Our Staff

Our team of cardiovascular physicians, nurses and allied health professionals have exceptional cardiovascular and intensive care experience. Their skills, dedication and compassion come from years of treating cardiovascular patients.

Our board-certified cardiologists, recognized for their expertise in cardiac care, are continuously enhancing their skills and knowledge by participating in national and international seminars that focus on the most advanced cardiovascular diagnostics and procedures.

Our nurses, who are specially trained in cardiovascular care, serve as the link between patients and their doctors. They consult closely with cardiovascular physicians as well as other health care professionals. Many nurses are certified in critical care and advanced cardiac life support.

Intensive Care

Our intensive care units are dedicated to providing cardiovascular patients with the support they need at each stage of their treatment and recovery.

We provide:

  • Special care for cardiac patients with dysrhythmias, myocardial infarctions and end-stage cardiac disease
  • A step-down unit that monitors cardiac patients' response to their treatments and helps them regain independence
  • Counseling for patients and their families during the hospital stay
  • Pastoral guidance, upon request
  • Non-invasive cardiovascular testing

We rely on the latest technology available for non-invasive testing, using equipment that remains outside the body. Because we are so successful at diagnosing heart problems quickly and accurately, we can implement the most appropriate, personalized plans for patients' medical treatment (including surgery if necessary) and follow-up care.

Our non-invasive diagnostics include:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Signal averaging
  • Stress testing
  • Echocardiology (ECHO)
  • Holter monitoring
  • Pacemaker monitoring
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Myocardial perfusion imaging
  • The gated wall motion study

Non-Surgical Treatments

Our physicians use some of the latest techniques to treat cardiac patients without surgery, such as:

  • Thrombolytic therapy - medication given to help dissolve blood clots in the heart, legs or other major blood vessels

Prevention and Education

At South Pointe Hospital, we believe in educating our patients about their conditions and empowering them to prevent further health problems. And the programs listed below are intended to do just that.

Healthy Heart Program

This program screens for five risk factors of heart disease:

  • Cholesterol
  • HDL (good) cholesterol
  • Blood Sugar
  • Blood Pressure
  • Smoking and Weight

After the screening, each patient receives a report of the test results and is offered educational information to minimize the occurrence of heart disease.

Please call (440) 449-6242 for screening dates, times and places or see our calendar.

Smokeless in Cleveland

Reviewed and approved by a pulmonary physician medical advisor, Smokeless in Cleveland helps patients understand why they smoke, addressing both the physical and psychological addictions of cigarette smokers.

The program also:

  • Teaches people when they are most likely to smoke
  • Helps people quit smoking through behavior modification and medication therapy
  • Teaches people to deal with weight gain once they stop smoking

This program is conducted in a small group setting for the attention and support you need. Please call (216) 491-7389 for more information or see our calendar for dates and times.
