South Pointe is pleased to announce that it has purchased a computer-aided detection system (CAD) for the radiology department. The CAD system assists radiologists in the battle against breast cancer by digitizing and analyzing mammograms that may be indicative of cancer. Early research results suggest that the CAD system helps radiologists diagnose cancer earlier than mammograms alone. Early detection of breast cancer is the key to higher survival rates, a better prognosis and reduced treatment costs.
South Pointe is thankful for all of the donations that were made to support the purchase of the system, including the South Pointe Auxiliary, the Dr. Bernard S. Abrams Memorial Fund, Epic Systems Corporation, Bev Lozar and Patrick O’Brien, D.O.
